Conflict-related SGBV in Sudan

2023

Since the 2023 civil war in Sudan broke out, targeted killings of civilians and sexual violence against women and girls as young as 12 years old have increased sharply. As of January 2024, more than 13,000 people had been killed, 33,000 were injured, and 5.8 million were internally displaced. It has been reported that more than 1.5 million others had fled the country as war refugees.
