Notes: The ages of Korean and Chinese victims can differ by one year because both cultures consider the first year of life to begin at conception, and thus count it toward their total age. While some victims count their age in the Korean and Chinese ways, others don’t. 

Background information on the Japanese military sexual slavery system is repeated throughout all stories so that everyone, regardless of the number of testimonies read, can obtain historical background on the system. ​
